In college I studied zoology (the biology of animals) and bird science was my favorite. We basically just walked around campus bird-watching, and when we were in the classroom we listened to recorded bird calls and made cute little flashcards.
What did all of that get me? A desk job and style blog.
I still like to take out my binoculars from time to time and take a minute to look around. It reminds me that I need to slow down and appreciate the little things in life, and that I actually have a degree.

I just love this look - and it's perfect for bird watching! They are actually my favorite animals (growing up I had a bird named (wait for it), Birdie :)

You look so adorable! The binocs go really well with the plaid + boots. You definitely look the part of bird watcher.
ReplyDeleteYou studied zoology? That sounds so cool! Tell us some yummy factoids about birds!
I had to take Zoology too, but we looked at gross stuff all the time. It was more like Deadology! HAHAHA I love your corduroy skirt! I've always been a fan. I have a navy one! Haven't worn it in awhile. And your plaid shirt is awesome! Cute post! Have a great weekend!!! :D

i, of course, love birds. we have a bird feeder in our backyard and mimi and i love to sit and watch them. they are so funny! i also just recently bought some binoculars at an estate sale so i could do some serious bird watching. anyway, this outfit is super cute. i love the plaid shirt. and that skirt is an awesome thrift find!
ReplyDeleteAwwww how cute are you! Loving that outfit with the flannel shirt! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your degree. I'm honestly just not capable of focusing hard enough on anatomy/biology, even though I would LOVE to so I could become a vet. Sounds like fun times in your classes. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, you look cute like always.
Oh wow, the high-waisted skirt looks amazing on you! I love the color, too. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteCute! & so perfectly fall!
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is soooooo cool. It's like 90s casual and Cher Horowitz chic put together. Great look!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting degree.. what kind of desk job do you have?
ReplyDeletecan this post be any cuter? I need to bust out my plaid shirts. Such a perfect look for fall Megan!

Thanks for the super sweet comment, Megan! I'm a new follow to your blog - can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteAdore your skirt, and the shirt goes perfect with it!

It really is too bad when hobbies that you love can't pay your bills!
ReplyDeleteI really love that cord mini - it's a rich caramel color that would go with everything!
My Grandpa and I used to be 'bird watchers'. Only really at the bird feeder but he taught me names of lots of birds. It is very calming to sit and be quiet with a little bird book in your hands.
ReplyDeleteAlso, seriously love this skirt. I think I'm falling back in love with corduroy (we fell out of love when I was 13 and decided I was to cool for pants that made noise). You look adorable.
too funny, isn't that the way it almost always is with school, but at least you look super cute bird watching!!

Well aren't you looking perfectly Fall? :) Don't worry, you're not alone. My college degree + 1 year of law school before I decided to quit left me with massive loans, a style blog, and a part-time nannying job. We'll figure it out :)
ReplyDeletefantastic outfit and photographs : )... ah, school. What a paradox!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit, and such a great past-time/degree! My degree has nothing to do with my job either...but I still love learning more about it in my off hours.
ReplyDeleteyou are super cute! love your style and your hair. also loving your boots :)

i'm new to birding and i adore the little birdies!!! thanks for dropping by my blog, you have great style! i've just changed jobs and this one requires me to be a little more dressed up than my previous (read: no more work uniform!) so i fret and fuss over my outfits for the next day just so i can wake up later in the mornings... so i'm following you for fashion inspirations!
ReplyDeleteYou look beyond cute as always. What type of job would you rather have? Just curious. :D
ReplyDeleteI love your plaid shirt....this is adorable!

love your plaid top. I studied statistics in college and now I have a style blog and an ebay shop. My parents are confused, but proud. Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteAh, love this outfit! I definitely need to get more plaid in my life. And your freckles are absolutely adorable! And yeah... I'm not really working in anything related to my degree, either. Which is fine by me!
ReplyDeleteYour corduroy skirt is too cute! I've never been bird-watching before but it seems like a cool activity :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing outfit dear!
ReplyDeleteAnd great blog! Following! Follow back? <3
Hi Kristine! Thank you for the sweet comment :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I agree, where does the time go?! It feels like just yesterday I was graduating and expecting to get a job within 24 hrs making millions a year. How naive!
Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI am actually really happy with my job. I love my coworkers, and I enjoy what I do. My original intention was to become a veterinarian... but after working as a vet tech for 4 years, I kind of realized it wasn't for me. It's more about people/money than animals, which wasn't what I wanted. Then I decided I wanted to do conservation research in the field, or become a teacher..... then I found this desk job to just start earning an income, and 3 years later I'm still here... funny how that happens :)
Yay! Glad to hear you like birding too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet comment - what an honor to be turned to for inspiration!! I sure hope I can help :)
Happy Halloween!!
Aw, thank you!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :) *blushing*
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not the only one! :) And yes, it's definitely still nice to have something outside of work that I can enjoy and spend time on.
ReplyDeleteDang, law school?! We will definitely figure it out, and hey, at least we know what we DON'T want, right? :)
ReplyDeleteAw, that's sweet :) It is definitely a relaxing and calming activity... one of the reasons I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Loren! :)
I work for a website that is subscription based for veterinarians. So, I am kind of working in my field, just not outdoors or in a hospital like I'd expected. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love my job - my coworkers and boss are amazing and after 3 years at this job they feel like family!
ReplyDeleteAh, April... I had a hard time focusing on anatomy/biology too! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, my goal was to become a vet. I even worked as a vet tech for 4 years. I quickly, and sadly, realized that it's more about money/people than the animals. I had to watch injured pets get turned down day after day because the owner couldn't pay. It broke my heart. I decided to go a different direction and decided I'd go into conservation and research, or become a teacher. Then I found my desk job, and 3 years later I'm still here... I actually love my job! :)
Thanks for your sweet comment :)
Yes, bird watching is so relaxing - and they are funny!! So glad to hear you found some binoculars! You will love getting serious about it - it is an addicting pastime!
ReplyDeleteHaha, deadology - that's good!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim :) Hope you had a great weekend and Happy Halloween!!
Haha, I can't really think of any good factoids! You can ask me something though! :)
ReplyDeleteBirdie, haha, that's adorable!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCool! Sounds interesting. Having good co-workers and a great boss makes it so much better!
ReplyDeleteYou look cute as a button here! I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat type of a job do you have, specifically?
